The UK economy depends on the success of microbusinesses.
While SMEs account for 99% of all businesses in the UK, microbusiness (with less than 10 employees) account for 95% of SMEs.
The market for business broadband, from a brand that truly understands microbusinesses, is massive.
Between 2016 and 2018 we were Virgin Media Business' lead content creation and social media agency for their annual VOOM competition - to find the UK's most innovative entrepreneurs.
Our task was to promote the UK and Ireland's biggest ever pitching competition for small businesses. To drive interest in every aspect of the £1m competition. And ultimately to drive sales of Virgin Media Business products.
We worked closely with Richard Branson and the Virgin team, and with influencers ranging from Tyra Banks to Jamal Edwards, on activations including:
- Live video pitches, shared on social channels from multiple destinations
- Writing the strategy and delivering effective results with six figure social media budgets
- Training and mentoring shorlisted and prize-winners
- Managing the content creation and social media teams to produce on-brand content in real-time
- Winning a Guinness World Record
- Producing the VOOM! Podcast (which was number 1 on the iTunes business podcast chart)
- Delivering on-brand partnerships with LinkedIn and Facebook
The results
- Significant sales increases and Lead-generation attributed to content and social activity
- Introduction of a brand new ‘lookalike’ target audience generated by social advertising
- 14m impressions on Twitter - regular ‘trending’ in the UK
- The ‘VOOM’ podcast regularly featured in the UK’s top business podcasts
- 230,000 minutes of branded video content watched on Facebook
- 48,000 video views of live Facebook streams
- 200,000 social interactions
- Breaking a Guinness World Record (honest!)
